Description

Honduras Santa Rosa Green Coffee Beans exemplify the rich and vibrant flavours Central American coffees are known for. These beans are grown in the fertile region of El Paraiso, located at an altitude of 1,300 meters above sea level. With a creamy body and exciting notes of cacao, nutmeg, and orange citrus, these beans provide a delightful roasting experience for those looking to explore complex, full-bodied coffee.

Honduras Santa Rosa Origin and Details

  • Country: Honduras
  • Region: El Paraiso
  • Altitude: 1,300 meters above sea level
  • Varieties: Catuai, Yellow Catuai, Lempira, Pacamara
  • Processing Method: Semi-washed, Sun-dried with prolonged fermentation
  • Harvest Period: January - April

Processing Method and Quality Control

These beans undergo a semi-washed process followed by sun drying with prolonged fermentation, which enhances the coffee's natural sweetness and body. Rigorous quality control is maintained from planting to harvesting and drying, ensuring the beans meet Specialty Coffee Association standards. This is achieved with the help of expert technicians who support sustainable farming practices and biodiversity.

Potential Flavour Notes and Characteristics

When roasted, Honduras Santa Rosa beans reveal a rich and creamy body with notes of cacao, spicy nutmeg, and a bright orange citrus acidity. The intense dark chocolate aroma further elevates the cup, making it perfect for coffee lovers who appreciate a full-flavoured and well-balanced brew.

Benefits of Home Coffee Roasting

Roasting Honduras Santa Rosa green beans at home allows you to unlock their rich and complex flavours. A lighter roast will emphasize the bright citrus notes and delicate spiciness, while a darker roast will highlight the deep chocolate and nutmeg undertones.

Important Disclaimer

These are green, unroasted coffee beans and are not suitable for direct grinding or coffee-making. They must be roasted first before they can be brewed and enjoyed as coffee.

Excellent.

Ordered 10kgs after one espresso and one flat white. Espresso is as advertised, darkish chocolate which the citrus doesn't overwhelm. Moreish. But it is really amazing with nicely steamed full fat milk where Belgian chocolate wafers get backed up by smooth orangey citrus. A really great drink.

Medium roasted in a Behmor with the cool button pressed as soon as first crack begins to subside. Definitely one that will make your Nespresso-drinking friends think about buying some proper kit.

STILL GREEN AT ROASTING

Had trouble with this order. Redber only sent 125g bags with 250g labels on. I phoned Roz and she sorted it out but it took a week for my replacements to arrive.
I ordered 3 coffees that I often mix together in my personal blend, and roasted them together in my new Chinese electric roaster....mistake I think.
Next time I shall roast each variety separately as I had 3 different colour beans in my roasted product.
When ground they were a satisfactory overall colour - medium - and tasted great and better than buying the coffee roast and ground, but a lot more faff to get a cup of coffee. Will persevere for the moment.

Good taste but a lot of waste

Roasted mine to first crack (about a minute passed) and the taste is quite good
The only reason I'm rating lower is the bag of beans I got had a LOT of waste beans that I had to throw out compared to other orders of beans I've had in the past.
(when weighing out for my roasts I check to see if there is rots/borer holes etc)

Blended 50 50 with columbian Excelso huilia

I have roast several kgs of Santa Rosa over the last 18 months or so, blending It each time with Colombian Excelso Hulia. I have been varying the roasting profiles in 500gr batches and found roasting the Santa Rosa to a medium / dark roast and dumping it towards the end of the second crack. The Excelso Huilia was roasted to a medium colour, dumping it at the start of the second crack. Blending these two 50/50 has given me a versatile coffee that's great as an espresso or with milk. The mother in law loves it , nuff said :)

santa rosa. lovely smooth espresso

I’ve roasted 4kg of these now. I have been blending 50/50 with Santa Rosa. This gives me a lovely smooth espresso every time, its also great with milk.
This is my go to blend. Excellent quality and service, Cheers

nice

to me; tastes smooth with delicate woody type-profile.

nice to drink and beans high quality, but not on my "to buy again" (...with so many others to try first) list, hence 4 stars, think worth trying if you like woody / earthy profiles though, glad to have tried.
